History of the WSOP - World Series of Poker
The WSOP (World Series of Poker) is the most prestigious poker event in the world. It was first held in 1970 at the Binion's Horseshoe Casino in Las Vegas. Since then, it has been held every year in Vegas with the exception of 1971, when it was held in Reno. The WSOP has grown tremendously in both size and prize money since its inception. In 2017, the WSOP had over 120,000 entrants and awarded over $200 million in prize money. The WSOP is truly the pinnacle of poker. The winner of the WSOP receives a multi-million dollar cash prize and the coveted WSOP bracelet.
